Zahra Buhari Says, “Why I Wore The Fulani Fabric”

If anyone expected her to wear a rich lace fabric for her wedding Kamu, then, they are wrong.

For the Kamu, Zahra, the daughter of President Mohammadu Buhari who got married to Ahmed Indimi, went for a rich blue Fulani fabric which she ordered for.
The Kamu Amariya is one of the oldest events in the Hausa wedding ceremony. Kamu means catch the bride.

The groom’s family comes and negotiates with the bride’s friends for her release to them. They have come for their bride and they are willing to pay any price to have her. This is a fun event and negotiation may take up to 30 minutes followed by a fun reception.

On why she chose the ancient fabric, she posted on her IG handle, “I respect tradition, it is what makes us unique.. For my Kamu I insisted on wearing the rich blue traditional Fulani fabric that was worn by generations before us and @hudayya delivered! MUA @mamzabeauty.. @bighstudios . I am proudly #fulani #zahmed2016 (sic)
