Prominent Nigerians Jostle For Invites As Buhari’s Daughter, Zahra Gets Married In 48 hours

This invitation card is the most sought after item in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja currently.

Almost everyone wants to be a guest of the President as Mr. President’s daughter, Zahra Buhari and billionaire’s son, Ahmed Indimi, will be getting married on December 16.

Already, preparations are in full swing as event planners are doing all the best possible to make it a low key ceremony as insisted by the father of the bride, President Muhammadu Buhari.

As expected the mother of the bride, First Lady Aisha has her friends all around her and everyone making sure she gets the best of the day as a bride’s mother.

Already invitation for the Kamun Amariya has been sent out.
The Hausa cultural marriages are primarily based on Islamic rites, the Nikkhai must precede all wedding ceremony. The culturally rich events tend to last about a week, starting with a wedding Fatiha and ending with the main wedding reception.

The Kamu Amariya is one of the oldest events in the Hausa wedding ceremony. “Kama” means catch the bride. The groom’s family comes and negotiates with the bride’s friends for her release to them. They have come for their bride and they are willing to pay any price to have her. This is a fun event and negotiation may take up to 30 minutes followed by a fun reception.

Then, there is the Wuni/Sa Lalle which is an event strictly for the ladies. This is when the bride gets to spend the last bit of free time with her friends and female members of her family, in her father’s house. A mixture of henna is made and used to make beautifully designs on the bride’s hands, palms and legs. Her friends and family also get henna designs on their hands but not as elaborate as the bride. Henna is used to make bring out the beauty of the bride.

There are many activities lined up but the President is still harping on a low budget, low key and no media presence wedding!

Reports that trailed the Lafe ceremony did not go down well with the father of the bride who believed the 30 Louis Vuitton bags were much extravagance from the Indimis.

Anyways, news hounds await how Zahra’s December 16 wedding will not be reported as envisaged by President Buhari.
