Anita ran into Kennedy while on her way to
class.
It was her first day at school and she had been five minutes late. Her mother warned her against creating the
wrong impression on this first day.
As she ran along the passage, she crashed
into him and both went sprawling on the cold pavement. Their books lay
scattered all over. “Oh I am so sorry!” she apologised profusely. The boy did
not even look at her as he whispered in an almost inaudible and subdued voice,
“She is not in class yet.”
She stared at him. He had a permanent pout around his mouth and his face stayed lowered. Any further attempt at socialising was discouraged as he refused to say anything to her beyond the six words he said earlier.
As she sat in class, Anita could not help staring at him. His image was distracting; he was handsome in an eerie kind of way. Then, she caught a glimpse of his eyes and chills ran down her spine. They were strangely large, glassy, and dark. It was a terrifying sight; she had never seen another human being with such eyes!
He caught her staring and burrowed his eyes
into her. They stabbed into her like daggers. Anita felt weird chills snake
down her spine.
To be continued
