King Sunny Ade To Auction His First Guitar



The king of Juju music, King Sunny Ade, who turned 70 years on September 22, 2016 is set to auction the first guitar he used as an artiste. As a juju player, KSA as he is fondly called, has been a guitarist from the outset.
This will be part of activities to celebrate his 70th birthday and 50 years on stage. A grand concert will be held in Lagos on December 11, 2016. The guitar which will be used for his performance at the concert, will be painted by popular artist, Victor Ehikhamenor and will later be auctioned.
According to the talent/event firm, Temple Management Company, during a press parley in Lagos, a grand legacy concert in honour of the veteran musician  tagged ‘Sunny On Sunday’ will be held on December 11 to mark the grand finale of his birthday celebrations.
King Sunny Ade has been performing for over 50 years. The veteran musician who is crowned the king of Juju Music has been nominated twice for the Grammy Awards. His illustrious career has produced a lot of albums featuring international collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Manu Dibango, Youssou N’Dour and Salif Keita among others.
Sunny On Sunday concert is set to feature a blend of some of the finest international and Nigerian artistes representing old and young. To give the event international coverage, MultiChoice Nigeria will be the official  partner.
Speaking about the event, CEO of Temple Management Company, Idris Olorunnimbe stated that the company was proud to shoulder the responsibility of celebrating a Nigerian music icon on a big scale that has never been witnessed before.
He said, “For us at Temple Management Company, this is a national assignment that has been long overdue and we are glad to shoulder this responsibility. We want to assure fans of King Sunny Ade of a truly world-class concert. We are working with partners in South Africa and other parts of the world to deliver a befitting celebration of a legend.”
King Sunny Ade promised that the grand concert will be one of his career highpoints that every music fan should look forward to. He explained, “This is more than just a birthday celebration for me. I am looking forward to giving one of the best performances of my life that will prove to people that I still have some music in me.”
