Wife
of Nigerian President, Aisha Buhari, dedicated an award she received in the
Belgian capital, Brussels, to people who are engaged in the war to restore
peace in the country.
Nigeria’s
northeast is home to Boko Haram insurgency that continues to claim lives and
result in the destruction of property.
Mrs Buhari hails from Adamawa State, one of
those affected by the insurgency. The other two are Borno State and Yobe State.
She
delivered an opening remark under the theme, ‘Women’s Role in Global Security’
during the Women’s Froum Crans Montana event held in Brussels.
The
wife of the President said on Wednesday October 19, ‘‘I whole-heartedly dedicate this award presented to
me by the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Foreign &
European Affairs, Minister Didier Reynders at the african women's forum on
"Women's Role in global security" to the Nigerian Military men and
women who have lost their lives and those at the war front battling to restore
peace in the North East.”
The
Nigeria’s First Lady made the headlines late last week when she said in a BBC interview that lest her husband rang changes in his
government, she will not vote for him if he decided to seek reelection.
In
response to her ‘threat’ Buhari on a visit in Germany stated that she (Aisha)
belonged basically to the house and that he maintained superior political knowledge
over her.
