As the Emir of Kano,
Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, is one of the rare kings to exude class, aura and
royalty at its peak.
Being
an Emir, to the former Central Bank Governor, is beyond wearing a turban— it is
making a statement of everything around him including the animals.
Spotted recently during the Eid Fitri celebrations at the
palace in Kano, the parade, the camel ride(he didn’t ride on a horse) and royal
attire spelt just one word— class.
Little wonder, the TIME magazine also listed
Sanusi in its TIMES 100 list of Most Influential People of 2011, In 2013.Not
known to go for anything less than the best, the Emir is emerging fast as the
most elegant ruler from northern Nigeria especially in the rare display of the
kingdom’s rich heritage.
He was selected to succeed his grand uncle, Ado Bayero as the Emir of Kano on the 8th of June, 2014. He was formally crowned as Emir Muhammadu Sunusi II on the 9th of June, 2014 making him the 14th Emir of Kano] and the leader of the Tijaniyya Sufi order, historically the second most important Muslim position in Nigeria after the Sultan of Sokoto, the leader of the more populous Qadiriyya sufi order.
With a big family of three wives, Sadiya Ado Bayero, Maryam,
and Rakiya, and twelve children, he does not hide the fact that he loves his
daughters.
Long live the King!
