The venue was at the Prince of Anthony Hotel. Here, family members and friends had converged on the same place where Yeni’s late dad contracted his historic marriage of 27 wives.
The surprise party was said to be put together by Mallam Abdul Okwechime and Akin Adeoya, of the Hotels 1960, owners of the Prince of Anthony.
As she entered and was wished a happy birthday, she was indeed surprised at the gathering. What surprised her most was when her longtime partner, Theo Lawson, proposed to her.
Guests were treated to sumptuous meals and a performance
from Afrobeat maestro, Femi Kuti, who is also Yeni’s
younger brother.
Other musicians who performed at the birthday bash include Ade,
guitarist and singer Aduke and the
ageless Jimi
Solanke.
Yeni was married but divorced to Femi
Segun, a veteran broadcaster, who died a few years ago from
injuries he sustained from a bike accident. Their union is blessed with a
daughter, Rolari.
